DomePro firmware release notes

Version: 30
Date released: 16-Jan-2023

This document provides instructions on upgrading DomePro firmware and provides release notes on the associated firmware version.

The minimum Maestro4 version which works with this version of DomePro firmware is 0.09.002. Assure that Maestro4 is upgraded to at least this version before upgrading DomePro firmware.

Installation instructions

  1. Assure that the DomePro controller is attached via USB to the Windows PC.
  2. Using the Device Manager on the Windows PC, determine the COM port number for the DomePro controller connection.
  3. Run the DomePro_N.exe file. 'N' is the firmware version number.
  4. The "Astrometric Firmware Upgrader" will run. Follow the steps in the user interface. Step #1 will be pre-completed for you. Step #2 is to select the COM port number for the attached controller and click "Connect". Finally, step #3 is to click "Upgrade Firmware". The upgrade will commence and status on progress will be provided.
Note: DomeProU and DomePro2 products shipped prior to 1-Apr-2022 cannot be upgraded with the "Astrometric Firmware Upgrader" HOWEVER, contact us and we will assist in conveniently upgrading your firmware.
  5. Upgrade the other controller (e.g. shutter) if this is a classic dome system.
  6. Power-cycle DomePro and it should now boot into using the new firmware and connect to Maestro.

New this version

Features

- Changes to Remote/Local switch policy:
	- For DomeProU premium systems, the Remote/Local switch function is now permanently enabled.
	- For DomeProU standard systems, there is no Remote/Local switch and this function is disabled.
	- For DomePro2 systems the Remote/Local switch function is enabled or disabled by the installer.
- In Local mode the DomePro Azimuth controller behaves normally except that:
	- No azimuth rotation commands through ATCL (e.g., from Maestro) are acted upon.
	- The MoveMode is reported as "Local Mode".
	- The controller Status LED flashes fast.
- In Local mode the DomePro Shutter, Clamshell or RollOff module behaves normally except that:
	- No shutter operation commands through ATCL (e.g., from Maestro) are acted upon.
	- No shutter operation commands through the Module-to-Module link from the Azimuth module are acted upon.
	- The ShutterStatus is reported as "Local Mode".
	- All automatic shutter operations are disabled (i.e., closure on shutdown input or power fail).
	- The controller Status LED flashes fast.

- Changes to front panel display (on Azimuth, Clamshell and RollOffRoof controllers):
	- Added a diagnostics page that shows shutdown and powergood input states.
	- For single-shutter systems, shutter 2 state is shown as "".

- Added the Set/GetLimitLowPowerSampling (DSlp/DGlp) commands. Low Power Sampling turns on power to the limit switches 500us before
needed. Limit switches are sampled at 100HZ (every 10ms) so this reduces power to 500us/10ms = 5% of the power not using this
feature. Note: it is recommended that this feature is only used for small domes with battery-powered shutter controllers. For
the longer limit switch cable runs used on larger domes, and particularly for systems using AC motors, this feature is not
recommended. For these systems better noise immunity is provided with Low Power Sampling turned off.

- Removed the Set/GetDomeShutterPulseStopEnabled (DSxe/DGxe) commands and associated feature. These were never used.
