Astrometric's firmware & software pre-release page

This page provides pre-release versions of Maestro software (for Microsoft Windows) and SkyWalker firmware. This software/firmware is lacking either a) some features that the final-release will contain or b) final testing of final-release features.

The "readme" files contain information on what each prerelease contains. The readme files also document what features are missing from the associated pre-release software/firmware.

NOTE: pre-release software has received much less testing than final-release software.

Pre-release SkyWalker firmware

NOTE: If you are upgrading Maestro software to the same version as SkyWalker firmware (highly recommended) then there is no need to separately download and upgrade SkyWalker's firmware since the latest Maestro installation installs the latest SkyWalker firmware upgrade files.

Procedure for upgrade to final release

Follow these instructions once the final-release software/firmware versions are available from our software upgrade page and you are ready to upgrade to them...

Pre-release Maestro software can be upgrade via the instructions contained in the final-release readme file.

Pre-release SkyWalker firmware reports the same version as the final release version. Therefore, Maestro will not automatically detect that a SkyWalker firmware upgrade is necessary unless the following procedure is used to reset SkyWalker's internal firmware version:

  1. While running the old SkyWalker firmware with Maestro: go to Maestro's Diagnostics tab and type the exact (without quotes) string "QFivA5B6C7D8" into the "Cmd" window in the "Send Arbitrary ATCL Command" group. Click the Send button. This resets SkyWalker's firmware version to 0.00.000.
  2. Close Maestro and power-off SkyWalker.
  3. Upgrade Maestro to the latest release (if not already done).
  4. Turn-on SkyWalker and start Maestro fresh and when it prompts for upgrading SkyWalker's firmware to a new version select OK.
