======== SkyWalker Beta Firmware 0.11.002 Release Notes (10-Sep-2005) ========= ========== New features/changes in SkyWalker firmware 0.11.002 ================ Summary of new features ----------------------- - A separate (view) velocity is provided for AutoGuider input. The velocity defaults to 0.5X sidereal however it is changeable from the Instrument Display or via ATCL command (details below). - AutoGuider input is ignored when opposite AutoGuider inputs are active. This has the important advantage of defeating the problem with late model SBIG cameras where they can cause run-away AutoGuider motion when powered off. - In support of European convention the following additional formats are accpeted: - Dates with '-' as a delimiter are allowed (e.g. "2-14-06") - Coordinate strings with ',' as delimiter for decimal minutes or seconds are allowed (e.g. "12:34:56,7") New ATCL commands ----------------- - SetAutoGuiderVel (KSvg): allows the velocity that AutoGuider-initiated motion works at to be set. The expectable range is between 1.0000asec/sec min and 2.0000deg/sec or VelMaxX/Y max (whichever is lower). - GetAutoGuiderVel (KGvg): returns the present velocity that AutoGuider- initiated motion works at. - GetDefaultsForMountLastSet (NGdm): returns a string representing the mount name/type for which the default settings were *last* applied. New Instrument Display features ------------------------------- - Added the Settings/Control/HandPaddle&AG/ViewMotionSettings/SetAutoGuiderVel display page so that user can set the velocity that AutoGuider motion uses to something other than the default 0.5X sidereal. ================= Bug fixes in SkyWalker firmware 0.11.002 ==================== - Fixed a bug where opposite button press, from the Handpaddle would result in axial velocity slowly ramping up to 2.0deg/sec rather than "holding" at the current velocity as it should. Note this would not happen for Slew or when TrackRate was Drift. - Fixed a bug where occasionally there was a Client Syntax error with an unknown command that was shown as 3 characters rather than the standard 4 characters for all ATCL commands. SkyWalker firmware was loosing a communi- cations character from time to time. Occasionally, this bug caused down- stream problems (e.g. ASCOM clients not getting a reply and disconnecting). ============== Known problems with current SkyWalker firmware ================= - There is a small "blip" in Dec when alignment is completed. There should be no un-commanded motion in either axis when alignment completes. - If an illegal value is entered in the Instrument Display Edit Box, an unfriendly "Client Syntax Error" can result when a more friendly error describing the illegality of the value should be presented. - Some messages are reported multiple times rather than just once. For example, when alignment is voided it is reported 3 times. ======= List of features that were in SkyGuide missing in S-Box =============== (more/less in order they will be ported) - PEC - Objects other than Stars/BrightProper - AutoCalibration GoTo - HighDrive functionality - LX200-emulation - Alignment for other than Polar-aligned instruments - Polar alignment calibration (PolarAlignRefine) - Automatic selection of suggested optimal final alignment stars (not a SkyGuide feature) - TrackingCorrection diagnostics available from Status/Diagnostics/TrackingCorrection Menu Page
